The Book of Boba Fett‘s climactic war against the Pykes grows ever nearer, but first it’s time for a reunion with some old friends. In fact, Din Djarin encounters much of his supporting cast from The Mandalorian in “From the Desert Comes a Stranger,” while on his quest to deliver a gift to Grogu. Meanwhile, Cobb Vanth is back and trying to uphold the law in Tatooine’s small towns in his own way....
In “The Rescue,” one major cameo takes The Mandalorian season 2 finale home. Din and his friends have discovered where Moff Gideon has taken Grogu, and it doesn’t take them long to launch an attack on his flagship. Once there, the finale delivers on all the blasting, darksaber fights, and surprise cameos you could want, playing coy only with Grogu himself. “The Rescue,” directed by Peyton Reed and written by showrunner Jon Favreau, has a couple major Star Wars connections and not as many little Easter eggs....
The Book of Boba Fett has now delivered its final episode on Disney+ and its story – a mashup of Fett flashbacks, Tatooine politics, and between-season Mando adventures – has polarized Star Wars fans, many of whom wished it would simply concentrate on just one of its chosen narratives throughout its run. In its season finale, The Book of Boba Fett gathered together all its major post-RoTJ players, including Fett, Fennec Shand, Mando, Grogu, Peli Motto, Black Krrsantan, Cad Bane, the mod biker gang, and Chekhov’s Rancor, for a showdown on Tatooine that would establish Fett’s dominance in Mos Espa against the fearsome Pyke Syndicate, who were out to steal Jabba the Hutt’s old territory from the retired bounty hunter so they could easily trade spice on the desert planet....
Y’see, while the comic book industry exploded in the wake of Superman’s debut in Action Comics #1 in 1938, and the superhero arms race was on with dozens of publishers competing for seemingly endless space on the newsstands, characters weren’t teaming up with each other. Superman, Batman, and others were published by National Periodical Publications while the original Flash (Jay Garrick) and Green Lantern (Alan Scott) were under the auspices of All-American Publications (which was soon absorbed by NPP, who later morphed into DC Comics), but there were no crossovers, no “event” stories, and certainly no superhero teams....
In Stranger Things season three, the Mind Flayer remote-controlled Billy Hargrove to build a fearsome creature out of dead rats and kidnapped townsfolk. It melted them all down like old wax crayons and stirred them into one big, gloopy monster. Then Joyce and Hopper closed the new gate to the Upside Down and, deprived of the psychic connection to its puppet master in the other realm, the creature died. In season four, the big bad is Vecna, a telekinetic ex-human in the Upside Down with the power to immobilise victims in our world by projecting hallucinations into their minds before killing them....
That seemed to be all Capcom planned to announce last week but then a massive online leak spoiled the rest of the roster. Art for 22 characters found its way to the internet just hours after the title’s first official gameplay trailer dropped. Leaked footage also showed Ken in-game and a clip of Cammy (clad in her classic unitard) performing her Ultra attack against another Cammy (clad in her new costume)....
But now with Gunn as both writer and director, The Suicide Squad will likely be a very different film. Gunn has said on social media that he hopes to deliver something more along the lines of the late ’80s action movie with superpowers that the classic Jon Ostrander Suicide Squad comics were. Originally released on the Wii U in 2013, Super Mario 3D World hasn’t lost any of its charm in the eight years since.
