Army of Thieves, the prequel to Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, has less to do with zombies than you might expect. Yes, there are a few undead creatures shambling around the claustrophobic hallways of Ludwig Dieter’s (Matthias Schweighöfer) nightmares and on European newscasts showing the horrific outbreak in Las Vegas, but the movie’s not really interested in what’s happening across the Atlantic. Instead, Army of Thieves is about the mythical safes built by legendary (and fictional) locksmith Hans Wagner, one of which will eventually become the vault Scott Ward (Dave Bautista), Ludwig, and the rest of the squad of mercenaries will risk their lives for in Army of the Dead....

A lot of emotions come to the surface for all of Attack on Titan’s characters, but it’s also been an incredibly cathartic experience for the voice actors that have brought the anime’s icons to life for nearly a decade. Every episode in this final season feels like a new apex for the series’ storytelling, but there are some earlier moments from the anime’s run that continue to stick with its voice actors and remain raw sequences....

Barry Season 3 Episode 5 I’ve gone on the record praising Barry’s pacing and episode lengths. The show consistently moves at a clip, pushing the story forward with kinetic energy. That said, “crazytimesh*tshow” may be the first episode of the series to feel too overstuffed. Not only does this week’s episode explore Barry’s feelings after his and Sally’s breakup, furthers the war between the Chechens and Bolivians, and continues Sally’s Hollywood journey, but it also reintroduces Barry’s old Marine buddy Albert Nguyen as an FBI antagonist, continues to follow Julie (Annabeth Gish) and her son as they plot to kill Barry, introduces a new scorned woman from Gene’s past, and finds Fuches trying to stir up more trouble with Taylor’s sister....

Far more than an exercise in “wouldn’t it be cool…” Batman ‘89 has a perfect creative team at its helm, with Joe Quinones (who initially helped pitch the concept to DC several years back, and whose art perfectly captures both the atmosphere and spirit of Burton’s films) teaming with the writer of the first Batman movie, Sam Hamm. Together, they’ve crafted the closest thing to a third Burton bat-film as we’re ever likely to see, bringing back Catwoman (who takes the spotlight on the cover of the fifth issue, which went on sale on April 12) and delivering perhaps the most tragic and horrific version of the Two-Face origin story yet told....
